3 Ways To More Energy & Renewal This Spring

Find yourself still in hibernation mode mid-spring? Feel like the winter retreat is still lingering? Transitioning from the natural inward nature of winter into the rebirth energies of spring sometimes needs a little encouragement.

I love spring. Mostly because I don’t like winter, the cold. My body loves the warm weather and the lightness it brings to my spirit. I feel more creative and am always inspired to start new projects.

Energetically, this is our natural rhythm. It’s helpful to embrace this natural flow when moving through various aspects of life, it makes life much easier without the resistance. During winter, a time of retreat, hibernation and deep introspection, it’s common to feel unmotivated to start new ventures or throw yourself into unfamiliar experiences. In fact, most of us prefer to stay safe in our warm beds and do things that nurture our soul.

During spring however, it is a time of renewal. Our bodies wake up from hibernation and crave a fresh start. A clean slate. A sense of rebirth. Anything that’s been holding you back over the last 3-6 months, it’s the ideal time to process and let it go. It’s an ideal time to allow that creative energy to express itself through you, creating a cleansing renewal process with more energy and vitality.

You can extend this cleansing process to your environment, your relationships, your emotional life and of course, your physical body.

Here are 3 of my favourite ways to feeling renewed: You could call it ‘letting go of the old and embracing the new’, or the allowing of the death:birth cycle.

1. Do a Detox

Encouraging the body to function well is an obvious one. Through winter, it’s common for us to choose more comforting and rich foods to keep us warm and satiated. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Come spring, our bodies do prefer lighter and nutrient dense foods that give us energy to fulfil our creativity. One way to do this is to nourish your body with healthy foods, and kick the habit of foods that don’t. It doesn’t mean you have to eliminate all the treats forever! Doing a detox is simply about giving your body a break and allowing it to function more effectively. I think it’s a wonderful catalyst for self-love and starting a spiritual practice.

I’d highly recommend doing Kick! The 21 Day Detox & Recipe book. It contains 30 recipes and an easy step-by-step process. Choosing to do this over 7 days is also an option, and better than nothing at all. Need more support? Do it with a friend! Take a look here.

2. Declutter your Space

Spring cleaning exists for good reason. We literally remove old energy in the form of dust, dirt and unused items and remove them from our living space. We open the windows, allow fresh air to filter the rooms and we breathe in new life. Spring cleaning is symbolic of the intentions we’d like to set for the coming 6 months. Which could be around goal setting, an intention to let go of the old, or welcome a new relationship or better health. This refreshes the environment and encourages new energy and opportunities to enter our lives, including our own bodies. Sounds magical.

Tip: While you’re at it, get yourself a sage smudge stick and waft the smoke throughout the home, transmuting negative and stagnant energy, particularly in the corners of the room. A mantra helps, you may use this one:

“Into this smoke I now release, all energies that do not serve, and all negativity that surrounds. I now welcome only the energies of light and love into this space.”

3. Energy Healing

A wonderful way to cleanse and transmute negative energy, particularly fear, which can be the very thing creating fatigue and lethargy, is the help of tools that encourage healing and renewal on an energetic level.

Energy healing addresses the health of your energy systems, which includes your auric field, chakras and meridians. Imbalances and unresolved trauma that occur within these energy systems can manifest into the physical (and emotional) body and present as chronic health issues, pain in multiple body systems, stress & anxiety, fatigue, feeling drained & exhausted, struggling with low self-esteem etc.

There are many modalities and resources available to assist in the healing of these issues, from an energetic perspective. This includes: reiki, flower essences, EFT/tapping, meditation, kinesiology, acupuncture, yoga, tai chi, qi gong and more.

My in-person reiki healing sessions in Fitzroy, Melbourne, are intended to strengthen and heal these energy systems for every client I see. Please get in touch if your intuition guides you.

So what will it be for you? You and a friend (or your partner) could block out a few weeks through spring to do a detox, schedule a day on the weekend for an intense declutter in the home and afterwards book a healing session. Sounds like the most nourishing plan to renew your energy. Because, self-love.
